But the Renaissance in the strict sense of the word could not be, because the functional requirements and the types of buildings and structures were different. It could only be the revival of architectural and decorative themes and motifs, the order system, and the terms of plastic, decorative details. In addition, the rejection of the Gothic system could only be relative and gradual. Without educated medieval perfection of construction and artistic techniques of Renaissance architecture and the related arts synthesis would be impossible. In addition, in the first half of the XV century, there was still a Byzantine architecture and its influence on the Italian construction was essential.
